- Vibram® outsole. Grips wet pegs and wet road, wears slowly, and can be replaced when it finally goes.
- Goodyear welted construction. Upper, welt and sole are stitched rather than glued, so a cobbler can resole the shoe instead of you replacing it.

Which bikes and clothes does black with red suit?
Red on black is the classic motorcycle accent, and it suits bikes that carry red in their heritage: Italian twins, older Japanese sports bikes, anything retro. It reads warmer and less technical than orange, which makes it easier to wear with ordinary clothes off the bike.
There is a reason red has been the accent colour in motorcycling for a century. It's warm, it photographs well against black, and it doesn't date the way brighter technical colours sometimes do.
On this shoe it sits somewhere between the orange and the blue. It's clearly a contrast stitch and you'll notice it, but it reads as a design choice rather than as sports equipment. With jeans, chinos and dark trousers it works without comment; with a suit it's still a visible accent.
How the red stitching ages against black leather
Red thread holds its tone well, and what change there is tends to make the shoe look better rather than worse: a slightly deeper, less saturated red after a couple of seasons, which sits more comfortably against worn black leather than a brand-new bright red does.
Abrasion is what actually dulls stitching, not light. The inside of the left shoe takes the most of it from the gear lever, and the outer edges take the rest from the pegs. Conditioned leather flexes around the thread instead of grinding at it, so the maintenance routine protects the stitching as much as the hide. Which laces suit black and red?
Red laces push the shoe towards the sporty end, black laces make the stitching the single accent, and brown or dark grey laces soften the whole thing. All thirteen lace colours fit, and a swap takes a couple of minutes, so it is the easiest way to change the shoe's character.
